PRAIRIELAND UNITED WAY TO KICK OFF 2010 CAMPAIGN
“LIVE UNITED” – Theme for 2010 United Way Campaign
JACKSONVILLE, ILLINOIS…Prairieland United Way will kick off the 2010 campaign with a community celebration at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19 in the Community Park The public is invited. Lots of free activities are being planned for the entire family. Everyone from the Community including clients from the 33 United Way funded agencies are invited to come be a part of the celebration. Free Ferris Wheel Rides, carnival games, a jump house, and karaoke are among the many activities to go on at the celebration. Prairieland United Way Agencies are also providing free food and drinks.
The 2010 United Way Campaign Theme is “LIVE UNITED” and the fundraising goal is $545,000. Prairieland United Way helps local people by raising and distributing funds for health, education and employment-related service programs in Morgan, Scott, Cass and northern Greene counties.
The 2010 Campaign Co-Chairs are long time friends of Prairieland United Way Shawn and Amy McCombs. Shawn served on the Board of Directors for 9 years and Amy has served as the Agency Representative from the Wells Center, which runs programs funded by United Way. The McCombs have served this community in a variety of volunteer roles including the Mia Ware Foundation and the First Presbyterian Church.
Prairieland United Way helps more than 33,000 people annually by funding 44 programs. These programs, administered by 33 local and area not-for-profit agencies included Youth and Adult Services, Mentoring/Guidance/Education programs, Crisis & Intervention, Health and Emergency Services, and Child Care programs.
